Race SLO, Camp SLO, Announce California Warrior Experience

Register today to be part of an exclusive, unique “California warrior” off-road experience at Camp San Luis Obispo on March 23–24, 2018

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — (June 5, 2017) — Race SLO, California Central Coast’s leading endurance sports event producer, and the California Military Departmenthave partnered to launch an initiative to bring Californians and their military together in an interactive, fun and engaging setting. For the occasion, the California Military Department Foundation and Race SLO are introducing the inaugural California Warrior Experience set for Friday and Saturday, March 23- 24, 2018 at Camp San Luis Obispo military base.

The California Warrior Experience will offer the following events for all ages and abilities: 5K, 10K, 1 mile, military grade Challenge Obstacle towers, a team Leadership Reaction Challenge, an Environmental Legacy Hike up Cerro Romauldo, and a Camp SLO Historical Legacy Tour. In addition, there will be a one-of-a-kind Overnight Military Challenge open to 100 participants on Friday, March 23. During the event, there will be a free California Warrior Festival open to the public. Camp SLO, established by the governor of California in 1928, is located on pristine lands 6-plus miles northwest of San Luis Obispo on State Route 1.

California Warrior Experienec options include chip-timed 5K & 10K and the Camp SLO Historical Legacy Tour & Environmental Legacy Hike. For the youngsters, register for the Mile Warrior Loop (medal included). Participants will navigate and experience Camp SLO’s striking hills, trails and training areas and more.

Challenge Obstacles include three military-grade challenges: Tarzan Course, Carolina Climbing Wall and Alpine Tower. All are described as huge, harness-and-belay based monstrosities supervised by motivating Camp SLO personnel.

During the event, the free California Warrior Festival will offer exclusive access and insight into the world of the California Military Department. Connect with, and get to know the California Military Department in a fun, educational experience. Since 1850, the California Military Department has been committed to California.
